About William Woo

Industry Experience:

Woo currently consults with and has worked for investors, companies, non-profits and key stakeholders on Sustainable Finance strategies for social and environmental impact. He is a former Director at Ceres, a capital markets sustainability research and advocacy organization where he helped lead programs in Banking/Financial Institutions and Water to support institutional members (collectively managing $60 trillion) with shareholder/bondholder engagement with leading global public companies. Woo has consulted as a Director with the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance where he managed a network of developing economy asset managers/owners, corporations, and policy experts building best Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) practices, especially in the area of Circular Economy and Technology. Previously, he helped start up two SBA funds focused on DEI investing in Low-Moderate Income zones, financing businesses owned/run by women and minorities.

His previous work includes roles at Amundi Pioneer Investments ($1.3 trillion AUM) as a Global Senior Analyst on the Portfolio Management teams in US and Europe, and he has worked in the private equity and venture capital industry at Advent International and a predecessor to Apax Partners.

Biography Summary:

William Woo is a Strategic Sustainable Finance Consultant, Educator and Investor. Woo has 25+ years of experience in sustainable finance, impact investing, public bond/loan/equity capital markets, private equity/credit, venture capital and mergers/acquisitions, working across many industries and through economic cycles. He is an Advisor at non sibi ventures, Greentown Labs, and he serves or has served on ten company and non-profit boards of directors.

Woo is a Lecturer at Boston University where he teaches classes on Impact Investing and Ethics and Value Creation. At Northeastern University, he taught the class in Impact Investing and served as Faculty Advisor/Investment Committee member of NU Impact Fund.
